Meghan Markle could be altering Princess Diana's jewels in her 'missing' engagement ring

A “missing” engagement ring given by Prince Harry to Meghan Markle featuring diamonds from his mother Princess Diana’s collection could have been “altered”, a jewellery expert claims.

The stunning £140,000 piece features a stone from Botswana, where Harry and Meghan enjoyed their first romantic holiday, and two diamonds from the collection of his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

It is reported Meghan has not been seen wearing the precious stones since May and there has been speculation the piece may be being restored after a ‘setting came loose”.

However, jewellery expert Danielle Rogers-Clark, a professional stylist and founder of Give Good Dress, told GB News the striking metalwork could be being “redesigned or fixed” to create a different look.

She told the channel: “The Duchess of Sussex has always had a very strong sense of style.

“The rest of her jewellery is always quite simple and classic with a chic twist. This could reflect a change or desire for a more pared-back look.

“For instance, by refiguring Princess Diana’s diamonds into a simpler design, or turning the large cushion cut diamond into another piece of jewellery.”

She added: “I know that it is important to the couple that they have Diana with them on their journey. Meghan previously said, as she had never met Harry’s mother: ‘It’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us’.

“So, I feel those signature memory-filled diamonds will return soon enough.”

Speaking at the time of their engagement Prince Harry said of the ring: “The ring is obviously yellow gold because that’s [Meghan’s] favourite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewellery collection, to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together.”

In response to the gesture of love and devotion, Meghan said in 2017 that it was “incredibly special”.
