Meghan Markle could fly 7800 miles across the world from Los Angeles to Nigeria on her own, instead of joining her husband in London, an expert has claimed.
Meghan and Prince Harry are both set to visit Nigeria in May with the Defence Headquarters expressing their excitement ahead of their visit.
On social media platform, X, Daily Mail Diary Editor, Richard Eden wrote: “#Meghan would, it seems, rather fly directly to Nigeria on her own than return to London with #PrinceHarry first for the #InvictusGames service at St Paul’s.”
In the West African country, the Sussexes are expected to meet with Service members and partake in various cultural activities during their stay.
Beforehand, Prince Harry will be the Invictus Games’ 10th anniversary celebration at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, which is now just weeks away – but Meghan could bypass the celebration and head straight to Nigeria.
Prince Harry is set to visit St Paul’s cathedral for the thanksgiving service and deliver a reading to honour the resilience of veterans who have participated in the Invictus Games over the years.
The Invictus Games, launched in 2014, has been a cause close to Harry’s heart, and a beacon of hope and empowerment for countless individuals. The aim was to use the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who serve their country.
As Harry prepares to return to UK soil, there has been no clarity on whether he will visit his family, despite the news of his father, King Charles announcing his return to front-facing public duty, following his successful cancer treatment.
The event will be the first time Prince Harry has returned to the UK since his flying visit to see his father in February shortly after his cancer diagnosis, which was a short, 45-minute meeting at Clarence House.
At last year’s Invictus Games, Nigeria along with Colombia and Israel were new entrants at the Games, competing with 21 other nations.
Previously, the Minister of Defence Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Badaru, who attended last year’s event in Germany, expressed willingness to host the games should Nigeria be granted the opportunity.
In a statement, Nigeria’s Acting Director of Defence Information in Nigeria, said: “The visit is to consolidate Nigeria’s strong hold at the game and the possibility of hosting the event in later years.”
Prince Harry has previously given a sweet nod to the Nigerian team during an Invictus Games speech, after Meghan discovered she was of “Nigerian descent”.
