Reason why Princess Kate's three royal children will be missing important event

The Prince and Princess of Wales are poised for a glitzy week, but they won’t get to enjoy the spotlight with their children.

Prince William and Princess Kate will be at the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall on November 30.

The royal pair will be accompanied by Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. However, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, will not be joining them.

The children will have finished school for the day, however the performance being on a Thursday night precludes them from attending.

The last time William and Kate appeared at the event was 2019 and on that occasion the royal children were reportedly excited about where their mum and dad were off to.

But, with the event finishing late at night, the Princess reportedly told them: “Not on a school night”.

The eldest of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ children, George, is in Year Six at Lambrook preparatory school in Berkshire. His sister Charlotte is in Year Four and his brother Louis in Year One.

The Royal Variety this year will be hosted by Bradley Walsh and will see performances from Cher, a celebration of 100 years of Disney and the 2023 Britain’s Got Talent winner, Norwegian comic Viggo Venn.

The casts of the Lion King, Frozen, Aladdin, Hercules and Beauty & the Beast will take to the stage for the Disney anniversary.

Musical performances from McFly, Rick Astley, Zara Larsson and Paloma Faith will also entertain the audience, as well as an appearance by Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham who will be accompanied by the English National Opera chorus.

Beverley Knight and the cast of Sister Act will perform, as will Derren Brown.

A heartfelt tribute will be made to the late musical theatre producer Bill Kenwright, known also as the chairman of Everton Football Club, who died a few weeks ago.

Spice Girls star Mel C, who appeared in Bill Kenwright’s Blood Brothers, and pianist Lang Lang will be accompanied by the teen winner of Channel 4’s The Piano, Lucy.

Thursday will mark the fifth appearance of William and Kate at the performance, with the couple previously attending in 2014, 2017, 2019 and 2021.
