Queen Elizabeth's former aide claims Prince Harry could 'reconcile' with royals in future

The former press secretary to Queen Elizabeth has claimed that Prince Harry could one day “reconcile” with the Royal Family, despite his relationship with them currently being in tatters.

Ever since Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals in 2020 and moved to California there have been tensions between the two camps, with their Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan worsening relations.

Then the Duke’s memoir Spare, released in January, made personal attacks against a number of members of the Firm, with Harry having seen little of his family since.

However Ailsa Anderson told GB News that there was no telling what could happen in the future between Harry and his estranged father and brother.

She said: “I haven’t got a crystal ball. Who knows what is going to happen in the future?”

She added: “He [Harry] is obviously working very hard on his charities, on the Invictus Games, which has been a celebrated success.

“I’m the daughter of a military officer. I know what it’s like when you’re injured in the military and you feel like you don’t get the support.

“That is a real testimony to his passion for the Armed Forces that he does this year after year after year.”

Ms Anderson, who worked for the late Queen Elizabeth from 2001 until 2013, acknowledged that all families have their own problems to work through, and the Firm is no exception.

She continued: “It’s a family. Families have disputes. I can’t think of one family that doesn’t have an up or down … and it’s difficult.

“Obviously, according to the media, there’s a lack of trust between family members now but I am a firm believer in reconciliation and who knows what is going to happen down the track?

“There are things that will bring the family together.”

Harry will be making a return to the UK later this week to attend the WellChild Awards on September 7, the day before the anniversary of the Queen’s death.

Writer and broadcaster Esther Krakue told Sky News Australia about the coinciding of the dates: “One of the concerns that him being here (in London) – him giving that speech at the WellChild Awards, might move attention away from the one year anniversary of the Queen’s passing to whatever antics that Prince Harry has going on.

“Even if he doesn’t do anything controversial, even if he comes just in the capacity of a private citizen and just gives his speech and goes off to Düsseldorf for his engagements… there will be media attention around him.”

The Duke will then travel on to Düsseldorf in Germany to attend the 2023 Invictus Games, where Meghan will later join him.
