Almost ten years ago, on July 22 2013, Princess Kate and Prince William introduced their firstborn child and heir to the world, a boy they named George Alexander Louis.
He has since been followed by younger siblings Princess Charlotte in May 2015 and Prince Louis in April 2018, however despite being royals the new parents still had to fill out all the appropriate details on the birth certificate, including the time and place of their son’s birth, with him arriving at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London.
But there was something unusual noted when it came down to filling out his mother’s job title, with Kate’s occupation being put down as ‘Princess of the United Kingdom’ even though she was known by a different title at the time.
Similarly for William his job was put down as ‘Prince of the United Kingdom’ although in 2013 he was also working as an RAF helicopter pilot.
William and Kate have only become Prince and Princess of Wales since the death of Queen Elizabeth in September 2022 and the ascension of King Charles, with them better known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the time of George’s birth.

However they were still technically a prince and princess, although Kate was not a princess in her own right until she became Princess of Wales, as before then she was only a princess through her marriage to William.
Back in 2013 Kate’s title as Duchess of Cambridge took precedence, whereas now her title Princess of Wales does.
It was recently reported that George may break with royal tradition as he will be given a choice as to whether he joins the military when he gets older.
William and Kate are reportedly trying to raise their three children in as normal a way as possible, with George, Charlotte and Louis growing up in relative seclusion at their home Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.
Royal biographer Angela Levin said that Kate will be feeling the pressure of bringing up a future monarch, as despite being a “confident mother” it is a “very heavy burden to carry”.
She told OK! magazine: “I think all parents wish their children wouldn’t grow up so fast, and it’s no different for Kate. In fact, George still sometimes holds her hand when they walk about, although that might stop when he turns 10!”
