Prince Harry isn’t ‘anywhere near’ returning to royal duties, claims expert

Speaking on Jeremy Vine’s Channel 5 show, NBC News’ royal commentator Daisy McAndrew was asked by the presenter whether or not she believes there’s any type of role Prince Harry could step into. She replied: “I think there potentially could be.

“I don’t think that we’re anywhere near seeing that or getting that at the moment. I think the British public and actually around the world, people were terribly sad (when Harry left).”

The royal expert highlighted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex started as a fairytale romance as a modern, diverse, young couple before things took a turn. She added: “Suddenly they were ripped, or they ripped themselves, away from the royal family and it all came tumbling down.”

Daisy told Jeremy Vine that although there could be a role for Harry in the future, it won’t be for a long time due to his tell-all documentaries, book, and interviews. The expert added: “The Royal Family would need to know that Harry really meant it if he was able to offer some help.

“That he would do it in a selfless way and wouldn’t be doing more interviews, doing more books.” The conversation quickly turned to Prince Harry’s relationship with his brother Prince William.

Jeremy touched on the Duke of Sussex’s recent visit to the UK and highlighted reports that the two brothers didn’t meet up at all when he flew back.

Speaking to the royal commentator, Jeremy questioned whether or not the resistance was coming more from Prince William than his younger brother.

Daisy replied: “That is where the true frostiness exists, we’ve clearly seen the thawing of the relationship between Charles and Harry and that’s to be welcomed.

“Clearly the fact that his father had cancer will be a big part of that. We know because Harry wrote it in his book, that Charles had said to Harry and William about their feuding, you know, ‘Please dearest boys don’t make my last few years a misery’.”

She claimed that it doesn’t look as though a reconciliation is anywhere near happening for the two brothers, although Jemma Forte shared it would be nice if they were able to move past their differences.

She said: “I think when somebody is ill, it brings everything into sharp focus doesn’t it?

“So I’m sure his dad being ill will absolutely soften perspectives hopefully in that hopefully they can get it together.”

Recently, Prince Harry spoke on Good Morning America where he touched on his family and visit in light of King Charles’ diagnosis.

Promoting the Invictus Games in Canada, Prince Harry commented: “I love my family.

“The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go to see him [King Charles] and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”

During his chat, Prince Harry revealed there are more trips planned for him to return to the UK, where he’ll try and see his family as much as he can.

Jeremy Vine is available to watch on My5.
