Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'third child' claims in doubt after Duke's fears exposed

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are proud parents to two young children – four-year-old Prince Archie and two-year-old Princess Lilibet. Although they already have two adorable children, Sussex fans have often speculated over whether the couple would ever expand their brood.

With the news of Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland having now moved into the couple’s Montecito mansion, these rumours have escalated but they appear to be just that – rumours.

The Daily Mail also previously reported, in November 2023, claims that Meghan and Harry would ‘love” to have a third child. They wrote: “And there are rumours they would love to have a third child….”

However, there’s some scepticism over how far these claims really go, and it’s all thanks to an admission made in 2019 about their family status. It was when Meghan guest edited British Vogue, Harry interviewed legendary environmentalist Jane Goodall.

During the interview, and when speaking about his and Meghan’s future baby plans, he told her that they planned to have “two, maximum” for the sake of the planet.

Speaking about his environmental fears, Harry said: “I’ve always thought: this place is borrowed. And, surely, being as intelligent as we all are, or as evolved as we all are supposed to be, we should be able to leave something better behind for the next generation. But, in fact, we’ve stolen their future.”

The interview was carried out around the time that the couple had welcomed their first child, son Archie, in May 2019.

The comment seemingly left fans excited at the prospect of the pair likely having a second child in the future. Meghan and Harry then went on to welcome their daughter, Lilibet, in June 2021.

Even prior to meeting Meghan, Prince Harry has longed to become a father – even as far back as 2012. Speaking to ABC News in 2012, shortly after the Prince and Princess of Wales tied the knot, Harry shared how much he would love to have children in the future.

He said: “I’ve longed for kids since I was very, very young. I’m waiting to find the right person and someone who’s willing to take on the job.” In 2016, upon speaking about making his late mother proud, Harry shared how he knew his mother would love for him to have children.

He told ABC News: “I hope she’s looking down with tears in her eyes being incredibly proud of what we’ve established. I’m sure she’s longing for me to have kids so she can be a grandmother again.

“I hope, once again, that everything we do privately and officially that it makes her proud.”
