Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have 'toned down' affection in public as key sign spotted

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have “toned down” the affection they have shown towards each other in public recently and are not as “openly passionate” as they used to be, according to a body language expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made a handful of public appearances together over recent weeks, notably the Invictus Games in Germany last month and most recently, an event in New York to mark World Mental Health Week.

This has brought Harry and Meghan’s body language under the spotlight, and Darren Stanton believes their “public displays of affection have changed drastically over the years”.

The Sussexes met in the summer of 2016 and married in May 2018 as they became working members of the Royal Family and took part in official engagements together.

Back then, the body language expert said they were “very affectionate in public, almost more affectionate” than Prince William Princess Kate, but tell-tale signs show that has changed recently.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, Stanton said: “Harry and Megan’s relationship has evolved. When looking at their body language, their public displays of affection have changed drastically over the years.

“When they started dating and became more established as an official couple, they were very affectionate in public, almost more affectionate than William and Kate.

“But I feel that they have toned it down a bit in recent times. I have seen their engaged eye contact has decreased and they aren’t as tactile with one another.

“While they do love each other and they will do anything to support one another, we tend not to see them being as openly passionate.”

“They suggest a desire to be listened to when someone speaks and a desire to get and hold the attention and respect of the listener.

“It’s interesting here then, that Harry ends up being interrupted by his wife. Not only does he seem to be fighting for the guy’s attention, but he also seems to be losing the battle to Meghan, too.

“She appears to take over with a smile and social ease that Harry might be lacking.”
