Meghan Markle sparks royal fan frenzy over £44k 'rich mum energy' wardrobe

Since her days as a cast member in the TV show Suits, Meghan Markle has been hailed as a fashion icon by many commentators and fans.

Her recent trip to Canada alongside Prince Harry to celebrate the upcoming Invictus Games to take place in the nation in 2025 confirmed her status as a fashionista, with many fans praising her for her style choices and others rushing to find the same pieces she donned.

However, attempting to recreate the exact fits the royal sported in Canada is likely a task too expensive for most, as the Duchess of Sussex is believed to have worn pieces of jewellery and items of clothing worth more than £44,000 during the three-day Invictus Vancouver Whistler 2025 One Year To Go trip.

The eye-watering price tag coming with many items owned by Meghan hasn’t stopped people from finding some of the pieces she wore irresistible – with some taking to social media to share information about dupes and items resembling the Duchess’.

One X, formerly Twitter, user tracked down the Kamik boots Meghan wore on her second day in Canada, as she and Harry – the founder of the Invictus Games – headed to the Participating Nations Winter Training Camp in Whistler. The royal mum-of-two had been seen wearing these boots multiple times also in her pre-royal days.

As the Duke and Duchess were in Canada, the same X user also created a style by using items worn by Meghan over the years – including a Givenchy bag styled by the Duchess as an evening clutch on February 14.

X user @FotiosFrida wrote: “I’m much shorter than her but she’s my style icon.”

Other fans of the Duke and Duchess seemed to be in awe at the style choices made by Meghan in Canada.

One X user, @simplebites, wrote: “Welcome to Canada, Sussex fam. Meghan looks gorgeous! Those boots, etc, are in my closet somewhere, so I’ll be stealing this look soon.”

Another social media user, @Blackshine94884, wrote: “Meghan Markle adds stunning camel coat to her flawless It-girl winter wardrobe. The Duchess of Sussex’s Canada wardrobe is the stuff of dreams.”

Referring to a £1299 olive green dress by Greta Constantine which the California-based royal paired with a £12,326 necklace, jacket earrings and a tennis bracelet on her last night in Canada, @LeonorForSussex posted on X: “I love how thoughtful she is when picking what she wears.

“She is always giving all the designers their moment. I also love the fact that the designer was born in Jamaica and raised in Canada.”

Following the three-day visit to Vancouver and Whistler, some commentators said Meghan’s expensive wardrobe gave “rich mum energy”.

According to fashion bible Vogue, this term refers to a trend that builds on the “quiet luxury” style featuring impeccable items of clothing without any showy logos and “fuses them with power-dressing vibes emitted by a don’t-mess-with-me matriarch”.

Upon their return to the US, Meghan and Harry issued a statement on their new website in which they mentioned the best and most poignant moments of their trip and thanked Canada for its hospitality.

The statement read: “The couple would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the event organisers, presenting sponsors, ATCO and Boeing, the Invictus Games Foundation, True Patriot Love, volunteers, and the Four Host First Nations for a fantastic week and their partnership for next year’s games and beyond.”
