Meghan Markle may land lead role in an iconic Hollywood movie sequel

Rumours are swirling that Meghan Markle is going to make her return to acting next year.

Meghan confirmed her retirement when she and Prince Harry announced their engagement in 2017 following seven successful years on the legal drama Suits.

At the time, she said this was in order to focus on her new duties as a working member of the royal family.

The Duchess of Sussex has recently dipped her toes in the acting waters with a role as an intern in an advert for Clevr Coffee, a Californian wellness coffee company.

But according to reports coming out of Australia, the Duchess of Sussex may land a huge role in a sequel to The Bodyguard.

Kevin Costner, who was in the original, is believed to be the one who pitched the follow-up to the 1992 classic starring Whitney Houston.

Meghan has a link to the film, with Harry’s mother Princess Diana once spoken about in connection with the film.

An insider told New Idea magazine: “The only thing Kevin loves more than an underdog like Meghan is a box office hit.”

Costner said in 2012 that “the studio liked the idea of doing a Bodyguard 2” with Princess Diana starring as the new love interest, before her death.

The actor spoke with the Princess about the project, recalling: “I just remember her being incredibly sweet on the phone.

“She asked, ‘Are we going to have, like a kissing scene?’ She said it in a very respectful way.

“I said, ‘Yeah, there’s going to be a little bit of [kissing], but we can make that okay.'” Diana decided to not star in the film.

This comes as she and Prince Harry try to save their £80million Netflix deal, which saw them make Harry & Meghan and Heart of Invictus.
