Meghan Markle 'likely to snub Coronation' with Harry sent to UK alone

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly close to finally confirming their plans for next month’s Coronation, with an answer expected in days. But question marks still hang over whether or not the couple will attend after it emerged they had not responded by the April 3 deadline set out by the royals. Now a royal author has claimed it is possible Harry will make a trip to the UK without Meghan.

An insider told Express.co.uk that the Sussexes would now lay out their schedule for the spectacular occasion on May 6.

Another source told The Times: “I hear they are going to confirm their plans soon, particularly now that Biden has.”

Mr Biden has unfortunately pulled out of attending as a result of his packed schedule across the Atlantic, but his wife Dr Jill Biden will represent both at the occasion.

This revelation has led some to believe that the Sussexes could now be moved to responding positively to the invite, which was reportedly sent out to them earlier this year via email.

The issue of whether Harry and Meghan will show up to the event has seen the likes of Prince William “baffled”, a Daily Beast source claimed, with no one sure what his next move will be.

The New York Post, though, has reported the couple will fly in especially for the Coronation, which will be watched by millions across the globe, in what is likely to be the most televised moment of the year.

An insider told the publication that “there have been lengthy discussions between the Sussexes and Buckingham Palace”, adding: “There is a time crunch on this, of course.

“It is such a historical event and it’s hoped that Harry and Meghan will be there.”

A second source concluded: “All families are difficult, but this is no normal family, of course. Harry has a lot of questions about how the event will work.”

Another royal expert, Kinsey Schofield, told Express.co.uk that it was likely that due to the couple’s issues with privacy and claiming to want to be away from the spotlight, they may have just been keeping their decision under wraps until the last minute.

The To Di For Daily podcast host added: “Harry and Meghan have become increasingly private about their movements in and out of the UK due to security concerns.

“I imagine that the palace has been informed that Harry and Meghan plan to attend the King’s coronation with the request of discretion to ensure safe travel.”
