Meghan Markle is 'struggling in Hollywood' but may have secret project up her sleeve

Meghan Markle’s silence on her upcoming plans suggests she “may be struggling to find her footing in Hollywood” but an expert believes she may have a secret project in the pipeline.

In April, the Duchess of Sussex signed with top Hollywood talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME) which has also represented major stars including singing superstar Adele and tennis legend Serena Williams.

But her career appears to have momentarily stalled after the £15.5 million ($20 million) Spotify deal she and her husband Prince Harry have had since 2020 was mutually ended by both parties last month. Meghan’s own Archetypes podcast series was being streamed on the online platform.

The couple still have their bumper £77.5 million ($100 million) deal with Netflix. Harry’s own Heart of Invictus series is due to hit TV screens next month, while it has been reported he could travel to Africa to film another documentary for the streaming giant.

But with no projects announced for Meghan since she signed with WME in April, a PR expert has suggested three months is a “longer period of time than is typically expected” to secure deals.

Kieran Elsby, the director of Media PR Global, told The Mirror signing Meghan to their talent agency will be a “major coup” for them, and said: “It is good business to have her on their roster. It is also good for Meghan having a prestige agency.”

But he further commented: “However, it’s been three months since the news broke and we’ve heard nothing since.

“This is a longer period of time than is typically expected for a new client to secure deals, which suggests that Meghan may be struggling to find her footing in Hollywood.”

The PR expert offered a few reasons that could be used to explain Meghan’s supposed lack of progress with her upcoming projects.

He continued: “It’s possible that Meghan is still in the early stages of developing her projects and doesn’t want to announce anything until she’s sure they’re ready.

“It’s also possible that she’s been rejected from potential partnership deals, which could be demoralizing and make her reluctant to share her plans with the public,” Kieran said.

Elsby also suggested the former actress is “simply taking her time to figure out what she wants to do next.”

Meghan has also been heavily linked with a return to acting, having starred as Rachel Zane in hit US legal drama Suits for several years before meeting her future husband Harry.

Last month, it was reported Meghan is being considered for a part in a proposed sequel to the 1992 box office hit The Bodyguard.

But the PR expert believes it is unlikely we will see Meghan return to our TV screens as part of her next career move.

He said: “She’s also said in the past that she’s done with acting, and she seems to be more interested in producing and creating content.”

However, Elsby said Meghan may have other plans in the pipeline that would be a world away from a possible return to acting.

The PR expert concluded: “I think it’s more likely that we’ll see her launch a new lifestyle brand or start a foundation. That way she is in control and basically need sponsors, which should be easier to find.

“I think her charity work will continue as she has a strong passion for it, and also it is essential that most Hollywood stars have a charity to work and support.

“Of course, with Meghan anything is possible, she is ambitious, so she could surprise us all with her next move.”
