Meghan Markle and Harry would 'thrill audiences' with project featuring Lili and Archie

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry spoke about the unhappiness and struggles they experienced as senior members of the Royal Family in their hit Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan but it may not be the last insight into their private life.

The programme featured pieces to camera of the two California-based royals as well as interviews with people close to them – including the Duchess of Sussex’s mother, Doria Ragland.

Moreover, the docu-series included clips filmed by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their last few weeks as full-time working members of the Firm, in which they detailed how they were feeling as their new life was about to begin.

While this documentary released in December last year added new claims regarding the rift between the Sussexes and other members of the House of Windsor, it only shared glimpses of the Duke and Duchess’ private lives in California.

One expert believes a follow-up programme showing Meghan and Harry and their growing children – Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie – would attract swathes of viewers.

Lynn Carratt from Press Box PR told the Mirror: “I’m certain, audiences would like to see a second fly-on-the-wall documentary about how family life is for them now and see how the children have changed and grown up.

“We really don’t get much of an insight into their home life, it’s more often or not related to the Royal family.”

Ms Carratt also delved into rumours Meghan and Harry’s deal with Netflix may soon come to a close, much as it happened with the pair’s partnership with audio streaming platform Spotify.

She said: “Netflix have publicly said that their ‘exciting journey’, with the couple won’t be over anytime soon.”

Harry & Meghan was a massive hit according to Netflix, which said the six-episode programme racked up more viewing time on the service than any other documentary during its first week.

The two other docu-series exclusively produced and released on Netflix by the Sussexes in the months that followed weren’t as widely watched. The first, Live to Lead, featured interviews with global leading personalities, while the second, Heart of Invictus, focused on athletes taking part in Prince Harry’s successful paralympic-style tournament, the Invictus Games.

During a rare public event in November, Meghan suggested more projects will be released by her and Harry in the next year, as she said they have “so many exciting things on the slate”.

However, given the Sussexes’ desire for privacy particularly for their children, it is unlikely their new projects will include a Kardashian-style programme.

One programme likely to be soon released is the screen adaptation of Carley Fortune’s Meet Me At The Lake novel, as the Duke and Duchess reportedly bought the rights for a film earlier this year.

Ms Carratt said of this venture: “It’s a brave step from Netflix allowing the couple to step out of their areas of expertise and produce a film drama in which they have no previous experience in. But the book is a best-seller, so they’ll be hoping the couple can do the film version the same justice.”
