Man Utd told of 'perfect' Casemiro replacement as midfielder one of four 'up for sale'

Casemiro’s long-term future at Manchester United has been thrown into doubt after just over a year at Old Trafford, with ex-Red Devils striker Dimitar Berbatov naming Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich as his “perfect” replacement. The Brazilian has spent the past few weeks sidelined with an ankle injury and youngster Kobbie Mainoo has stepped up in his absence.

“Maybe we can speak about this transfer in the summer, but he’s someone who is highly regarded at his current club. With Casemiro’s injuries and form, maybe United are going to look for a replacement.

“Let’s not forget about Scott McTominay though, he’s there and playing well, but if Casemiro is not going to be counted on to continue to play because of his age and injuries, then of course, you need to buy someone to replace him. Kimmich is someone who fits perfectly in that position, but does he want to leave Bayern? That’s going to be a tough decision.”

Kimmich could head to United as Casemiro’s replacement after the 30-year-old was one of four players to come up in negotiations during John Murtough’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia.

United’s football director headed to the Middle East in order to help ease his club’s wage bill, hinting that Casemiro is no longer considered part of their future plans.

Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial were the other three players discussed but Murtough was unable to seal any deal during his visit. However, should Ratcliffe and his new regime find a willing buyer for Casemiro, they have already been told that Kimmich would be the perfect replacement.
