LIVE: Clapham chemical attack updates as Met Police arrest 22-year-old man

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender earlier today as the hunt for suspected acid attacker, Abdul Ezedi, continues.

In a briefing to journalists today (February 5), the Metropolitan Police have confirmed the arrested suspect was taken back to a police station in south London, where he was quizzed before being released on bail.

Ex-asylum seeker Abdul Ezedi, 34, remains a wanted man by the police after an acid attack incident corrosive in Clapham, south London at 7.25pm last Wednesday which has left a 31-year-old woman with significant facial injuries which will scar her for a lifetime, police say.

She remains sedated but in a stable, yet critical condition. The woman’s daughters aged eight and three were also caught up in the ordeal but are said to be recovering.

A £20,000 reward is being offered to anyone whose information leads to the successful trackdown of the suspect, with the FBI drafted in to close in on Ezedi.
