But speculation remains over the futures of both drivers and Christian Horner, with the fallout from the ongoing case against the Team Principal causing tension.
Lewis Hamilton’s final year at Mercedes is proving anything but a successful swanswong, and the seven-time world champion was again frustrated in Suzuka as he laboured to ninth. George Russell was only two places ahead of him, and has now been publicly challenged by Toto Wolff.
