It’s the Day of Reckoning. Anthony Joshua faces Otto Wallin in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in a make-or-break fight as he looks to set up a showdown with Deontay Wilder next March. AJ has long been waiting for a shot at the Bronze Bomber but will need to hope Wilder first beats his former opponent Joseph Parker on the undercard before he steps into the ring himself.
Joshua, now 34 years old and with three losses in his last seven fights, has admitted his career is effectively over if he loses to Swedish opponent Wallin tonight. The British heavyweight comes into the fight the much heavier man and also the bookies’ favourite but Wallin has only ever lost to Tyson Fury.
But there’s a stacked undercard before Joshua and Wallin step into the ring, with co-main Wilder vs Parker the most eye-catching bout – but certainly not the only exciting contest tonight.
Daniel Dubois takes on a man Joshua was supposed to fight in 2019, Jarrell Miller, before a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs saw Andy Ruiz Jr replace him. While Canelo Alvarez conqueror Dmitry Bivol’s first fight of the year pits him against Lyndon Arthur. And there are plenty more enticing match-ups too.
