Australian Open LIVE: Andy Murray could derail Novak Djokovic as McEnroe furiously rants

The Australian Open is set to get underway on Sunday after the qualifiers come to an end. Novak Djokovic, who has won the tournament an incredible 10 times, is the favourite to land the trophy in the men’s draw but could face Andy Murray in a third round encounter. And Iga Swiatek is expected to lead the title charge in the women’s draw.

The draw for the first round has been made, with Murray set to open his tournament against Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Meanwhile, fellow Britons Cam Norrie, Jack Draper and Dan Evans will face Juan Pablo Varillas, Marcos Giron and Lorenzo Sonego respectively.

British sensation Emma Raducanu, who stunned the tennis world when she won the US Open at the age of 18 in 2021, will take on American Shelby Rogers in her first round match and could play against compatriot Katie Boulter in round three.

Meanwhile, John McEnroe has ranted about the possibility of the WTA Finals being played in Saudi Arabia as he described the move as “laughable”.
