Youngest UK EuroMillions winner heartbroken after criminal ex-boyfriend shot dead

The youngest ever EuroMillions winner has been hit by tragedy after her former boyfriend was gunned down as he partied to celebrate the New Year. Jane Park, was left “devastated” after her former boyfriend, Marc Webley, 36, was shot in Edinburgh last night.

Armed police raced to Anchor Inn in the Scottish capital just before the UK rang in 2024, while medics tended to the victim. Friends close to Webley were told he was “expecting” the attack and had been carrying weapons wherever he went.

Ms Park, who won £1 million in 2013 at the young age of 17, had been in a relationship with Mr Webley until last month. She wrote on Instagram: “I can’t believe I’m writing this. We spoke yesterday. If I could cuddle you again and tell you everything is going to be OK I would give anything to do it, Marc.”

“The months we spent together, you taught me some valuable things in life and I’ll never ever forget you. I am absolutely devastated. The best bed for you is up there My Handsome.”

Webley’s older brother, Don, posted a picture of him on Facebook and friends have written their condolences underneath. One friend posted: “Totally gutted, stay strong, thoughts are with you all.”

Police locked down Granton Road and Granton Crescent outside the pub while investigating the incident after local residents reported hearing gunshots.

One local told the Daily Record: “I thought it was fireworks at first then saw all the blue lights, ambulances and armed police. It was bedlam just before the bells.”

Another said: “The police were on the scene really quickly after the shots were heard. People were screaming and all hell let loose. There’s rumours four people are involved but Marc is dead. He had more enemies than Putin.”

In 2023, Webley was cleared of attempted murder, which saw him accused of trying to ram a car off the road in Edinburgh.

He denied slamming his car into another vehicle carrying driver Richard Hughes and passenger Lyndsay McLaughlin while travelling at fast speeds of up to 65mph.

In 2006 he was convicted of being the gunman in a gangland-style ambush on a Kawasaki motorbike and jailed for 11 years.

Webley, who was 19 at the time, along with James Tant, then 21, were sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow after pleading guilty to attempted murder.
