Ukraine war LIVE: Putin humiliated as top official killed while Kyiv gains more ground


Vladimir Putin has lost one of his top officials after he died in a car bombing in Ukraine.

Vladimir Malov, executive secretary of of Russia‘s governing United Russia party in Nova Kakhovka, died in hospital in Kherson on Saturday (October 7), following the attack.

Russian officials have called it a ‘terrorist attack’, with Kyiv yet to comment.

“The law enforcement officers will do everything necessary to punish the perpetrators of the crime,” Kherson mayor Vladimir Saldo said on his Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops have made more ground on the frontlines in Bakhmut. According to the latest report from The Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian military sources reported a successful offensive south of Bakhmut near Andriivka and advanced in western Zaporizhia Oblast on October 6.
