World Snooker Championship LIVE: John Higgins vs Mark Allen score updates as Trump returns

Mark Allen’s quest to be crowned world champion for the first time will continue against four-time winner John Higgins during Saturday’s action at the Crucible. After some shock early exits, Allen is among the favourites to win the World Championship this year, with The Pistol having progressed past Robbie Williams in round one.

Allen ran out a 10-6 victor against Williams, with Higgins sharing the same winning scoreline during his triumph over Jamie Jones. However, Higgins didn’t look at his commanding best in the first round, with world No.3 Allen understandably the favourite.

Elsewhere on Saturday in Sheffield, Judd Trump’s round two match against Tom Ford will resume with the former 11-5 ahead. Jiahui Si vs Jak Jones will also continue after the interruption, along with Stephen Maguire’s game with Shaun Murphy.

One man not involved though is Ronnie O’Sullivan, with the 48-year-old afforded an extra day off from playing. O’Sullivan will instead get to sit back and watch the rest of his World Snooker Championship competitors fight it out in round two today, as The Rocket preps for his clash with Ryan Day tomorrow.
