Two motorbikes recovered as investigation into tragic 7-year-old girl's death continues

Police have recovered two motorbikes as they continue to investigate the death of a seven-year-old girl.

Police are investigating a hit and run in which a young girl, Katniss Seleznev, was killed.

Katniss died after a collision involving a motorbike outside her home in Bloxwich just after 7pm on Thursday evening.

Detectives said two motorbikes had been found and that a 14-year-old boy has been arrested.

The teen has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

On Saturday, the unnamed boy was released on bail under strict conditions as the investigation continues.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes said both of the recovered motorbikes would be forensically examined for potential evidence.

Whilst the police continue their enquiries, Katniss’ family are being supported by specialist officers and kept updated on an investigation.

In a statement, Det Sgt Hughes said: “Our work to establish the facts around this tragic incident is continuing.

“We have recovered two motorbikes and they will now be forensically examined as part of those extensive enquiries. And at this awful time, our thoughts remain with the family of Katniss, who are being supported and have asked to be left to grieve in private.

“I would also like to extend my thanks to all those people who have already come to us with information – it is truly appreciated.

“We would ask again that anyone who was at the scene does still come forward, as what they know may be valuable to our ongoing investigation.”
