Meghan Markle's new jam has 'royal feel' as she continues to leverage elite connections

MacLaran called the jam, expected to be the first in a long line of products sold on American Riviera Orchard, an “interesting” product to go with.

The royal expert pointed to the “symbolic significance” of picking strawberry jam specifically as opposed to other fruits, as well as their ties to Britain.

She explained: “I think Meghan’s choice of strawberry jam is an interesting one as her first product.

“Strawberries have lots of symbolic significance dating back to Roman times when they were thought to have medicinal powers as well as associations with love and the goddess Venus due to their heart shape.”

Though Meghan has lived in the US with Prince Harry since 2020, MacLaran noted the distinctly “British feel” her strawberry jam has, once again leveraging her past connections to the Royal Family.

She concluded: “Strawberries have a very British feel, with strawberries and cream being traditional Wimbledon Tennis Tournament fare. Let’s not forget that very British afternoon tea treat – a scone with strawberry jam and clotted cream.”

The jam is not yet for sale, only the lucky 50 people selected by Meghan have been able to try it, but experts have said it could come with a staggering three-figure price tag.

Former BBC royal correspondent Michael Cole claimed she could market the jar for £200 each. He told GB News: “I’m not sure a single jar has been sold yet and we don’t even know what the price is going to be.

“There’s a celebrity supermarket called Erewhon which is nowhere back to front and they sell jars of honey that have been made by the bees owned by celebrities for up to £200 ($250) a jar. This is getting very serious. She’s got to make money.”
