Trump to pay £65.6m more to his sex accuser

Donald Trump must pay £65.6million more to writer E Jean Carroll for calling her sexual assault claims against him a lie, a jury said yesterday.

The former US President had earlier dramatically walked out of court during closing arguments at the New York defamation hearing.

Mr Trump was blamed for a “storm of hate” following 80-year-old Ms Carroll’s claims that he sexually attacked her at a luxury store in 1996.

He vigorously shook his head as Ms Carroll’s attorney branded him a liar who had incited a “social media mob” to attack her client.

He rose and walked to the exit, pausing to scan the packed Manhattan federal courtroom as his Secret Service team leaped up to follow.

He returned when his lawyer repeated his claim that the original verdict that Mr Trump had sexually abused Ms Carroll was a “disgrace”.

The payout follows the £4m she was awarded in a separate trial last year.
