The 'world's largest cat' which stands a staggering one metre tall and can even open doors

An owner of the ‘world’s largest cat’ has said their cat is so big they can even open doors.

Kefir, a Maine Coon cat, has gone viral in recent years thanks to his owner Yulia Minina who shares photos of him on Instagram.

Yulia, who regularly shares photos of the cat’s torso and legs online, has shocked Instagram users with just how big Kefir has grown.

Kefir has reportedly grown so big that he’s now the same height as Yulia’s two-year-old toddler, Anechka.

In a recent video posted to Instagram, Kefir can be seen standing on his hind legs and opening a door.

Soon after, Kefir is filmed stretching out in the sun before taking a break in the garden.

Other clips show Yulia, originally from Russia, and Kefire spending time together in their home.

Another post shows the pair sharing a sofa whilst Yulia’s daughter watches the TV.

In one post, Kefir and Anechka can be seen preparing a snack with their beloved pet.

Yulia wrote: “Sweet couple, Kefir and Anechka. These two are never bored.” She added that her cat had been dubbed a “gentle giant”.

Kefir’s extreme growth and friendship with Anechka have seen his popularity skyrocket on Instagram.

One user wrote: “Perfect friendship, how adorable!”

Another user said: “Oh my God I thought it was a dog.”

Yulia has praised her cat, whose breed originates from the US state of Maine, who said he is “affectionate and modest”.

She explained: “He not only grew up big in appearance, he is also very smart and always behaves calmly.

“The look is generally like that of a person, and Kefir has a formidable appearance, but he is a very affectionate and modest child.”
