The only way Prince Harry can heal Royal Family rift after returning home to Meghan Markle

There is a possibility of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle repairing their rift with senior members of the Royal Family, claims a royal expert.

Discussing Prince Harry’s whirlwind trip back to the UK to visit his father after King Charles’s recent cancer diagnosis, TalkTV’s Sarah Hewson said she believes “there is a big issue of trust”.

She said that it is key that none of the royal conversations get leaked to the media, adding: “Perhaps this is one chance to start healing, if Prince Harry goes back to California and none of the conversations that have taken place over the past 24 hours end up being briefed out to sources in the media, then perhaps that might be the start of further conversations.”

Speaking to TalkTV hosts, Kevin O’Sullivan and Alex Phillips, she added: “They [Royal Family] are very weary about the kind of conversations they have and what is revealed and whether it is going to end up in the public domain.”

Host Kevin O’Sullivan said: “I still find it astonishing. 30 minutes, not given a royal residence, and now he is going to fly back. Let’s hope relations get warmer with the entire family.”

Prince Harry, 39, met King Charles and Queen Camilla at Clarence House for a short meeting on February 6 after he had dashed straight from LAX Airport in California, shortly after Buckingham Palace’s public statement was released.

The King is known to have privately informed both of his sons of his diagnosis, as well as his three siblings.

The Duke of Sussex has since returned to California after spending less than 24 hours in the UK and staying in a luxury hotel for the night.

He flew back to be with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who stayed at their home in Montecito, California.

Prince Harry had not seen his father in person for about nine months, their last encounter was at Charles’s Coronation in May.

The King reportedly delayed his helicopter flight from London to Norfolk in order to see his youngest son. After Harry’s visit, King Charles and Queen Camilla were pictured sitting in a deep red State Bentley, on their way to Buckingham Palace showing he “wanted to be seen” by well-wishers, according to a royal editor.

The Mirror’s royal editor, Russell Myers said: “King Charles has a fleet of cars he could have used to travel from Clarence House to Buckingham Palace today, but he picked the highest profile of the lot.”

A previous statement released by Buckingham Palace claimed the King “remains wholly positive” about his cancer treatment which has already begun.
