The Duchess of York was reunited with the Royal Family for Christmas after she was banned from Sandringham by the late Duke of Edinburgh. Sarah Ferguson walked alongside her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, for the first time in 32 years since the pair split in 1992.
She had been invited on the traditional Christmas Day family walk to St Mary Magdalene Church. Royal commentator, Angela Levin, told Sky News Australia that Queen Camilla helped get Ms Ferguson back into the Christmas Day fold.
Angela Levin said: “Queen Camilla is very obliging. She doesn’t hold grudges. She thought it was about time she was drawn back into the family. This year she came and joined them to go to the morning service at church.”
The royal commentator added: “It was the first time in 32 years that she joined the family for Christmas. The late Duke of Edinburgh couldn’t stand her and wouldn’t let her come anywhere near at Christmas, so she had to hire a little cottage nearby.”
She further explained this would have been difficult for her daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice: “For her children, it was upsetting they didn’t have their mother with them.”

On Christmas Day, the royal family, led by King Charles and Queen Camilla, walked into Sandringham, Norfolk’s St. Mary Magdalene Church Monday as onlookers waved and cheered.
The Duchess of York accompanying the family, greeted well-wishers outside St Mary Magdalene Church while Princess Beatrice walked with her partner Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and Princess Eugenie was with her spouse, Jack Brooksbank.
Though Fergie, as she is more commonly known, didn’t join the family for the walk from Sandringham to church last year Prince Andrew did.
For the second year in succession, Andrew made the walk from Sandringham to church with the other royals, symbolic of family status over his role within the working monarchy.
As the UK was ringing in the new year, the Duchess of York posted a snap in a green dress on Instagram, the photo-sharing platform, to wish her followers a happy new year.
Her heartfelt post included the message: “I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday celebrations today. 2023 hasn’t been without its ups and downs, trials, lessons, laughter, miracles and joy.”
