Teenager dies after medical emergency at boarding school – Community left ‘devastated’


A 17-year-old boy has died at Scotland’s oldest boarding school following a “medical emergency”.

Emergency services raced to the scene after being called just before 7pm on Tuesday, May 2, to Loretto School.

While the student was rushed to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary, he was unable to be saved.

Loretto has said that the school community is “devastated” by the boy’s death and are supporting his family as well as fellow pupils and staff.
