Ted Lasso fans fume as Apple TV airs final episode three hours late

Ted Lasso fans have been left fuming after Apple TV delayed the season finale by three hours. In a tweet, the service announced the last episode of series three would air at 9pm Pacific Time (PT).

However, fans of the show have traditionally seen episodes dropping three hours earlier, at 6pm. The change had the biggest impact on viewers in the Eastern Time area.

The show will now air for them at middnight as opposed to the more family-friendly 6pm. No reason was given for the change.

Brendan Hunt, who stars as Coach Beard, said: “A heads up for those who were planning an earlier watch party tonight. Unlike the previous eleven weeks, the announced release time comes without a wink-wink.”

Fans eager to find out what happens to titular character Ted (Jason Sudeikis) and his beloved AFC Richmond have taken to social media to share their disappointment at the news.

@mamashif18 tweeted: “Whoever made the decision to change the broadcast time for the final Ted Lasso showed poor judgment. People had bought food, made plans with friends … to have so many gatherings spoiled.”

While @darewecan said: “So most of us on the East Coast now can’t watch until after work on Wednesday evening so the finale is ruined as spoilers will be all over the place when we wake up. Why would you do that – it’s mind boggling.”

@Tecnobrat added: “Please pass along the feedback that changing the time of the last episode to be 3 hours later than usual has ruined a lot of plans for folks.”

Other fans said they have planned their evening around the usual time slot. @MichaelsList said: “We plan our Tuesday evenings, make all the needed arrangements, food, drink, family, friends, Twitter, etc, ALL SEASON LONG – 21:00hrs EST! Now, with the finale imminent, you pull this?!?”

As @Kwiltse added: “Sheesssh, I need a life but planned whole evening around this, friends coming over to view together etc. Each week they have been dropping on Tuesdays at a decent hour.”

The final episode of Ted Lasso is set to see fans find out what happens to the beloved American coach after the Premier League season ends. Apple TV said the 74-minute episode will have “a whole room of grown men crying”.
