Several patrol cars were sent to the scene at around 8 pm after officers were told there was a possible gunman in the institution. Security guards seized the wooden knife from the student and remained with him until the police arrived.

He was placed under arrest while university workers carried out a thorough sweep of the main building. The police later confirmed that “no firearm was found on the student” and no one was injured.yes

A university spokesperson said: “The police were called to investigate the situation and the student was taken away to be interviewed.

“There was no shooting or any other act of violence. UNIBRA emphasises its care in following internal security protocols.”

It is currently unclear if the student has been or will be charged.
