Statue unveiled in memory of assasinated Conservative MP Sir David Amess

Youngsters from the Children’s Parliament visited the clay figure, including the group’s prime minister Harry Acheampong, 11.

The Parliament was the brainchild of Sir David, the Southend West MP stabbed to death in a constituency office.

Sculptor Andrew Lilley has dedicated six months to the statue but needs a further £27,000 to cast it in bronze. The youngsters have now started a fundraising drive to complete the figure and give it a home in Southend’s Chalkwell Park.
