Sir Jim Ratcliffe inherits awkward Man Utd transfer problem thanks to the Glazers

Manchester United are reportedly struggling to offload Casemiro this month, despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ambitions to sell him. The Brazilian midfielder has quickly fallen out of favour at Old Trafford and has been identified as one of the highest-paid players that United can get rid of to raise funds.

United have made a shaky start to the season, losing nine of their opening 20 league matches to leave themselves in eighth place in the table. Erik ten Hag’s side have looked drained of confidence and motivation, with pressure mounting on the manager of late.

The ex-Ajax manager has recruited poorly since his arrival in the Old Trafford dugout, and a significant overhaul is anticipated over the coming windows to try and right those wrongs.

Ratcliffe is keen to orchestrate the Red Devils’ rebuild following his arrival at the club, though the INEOS owner is set to prioritise outgoings with immediate effect. According to The Sun, Casemiro is first on the chopping block at the Theatre of Dreams but the club are failing to stir up interest in the defensive midfielder.

The ex-Real Madrid star is reportedly proving a nightmare for Ratcliffe, with his wages a major issue for both the Red Devils and any potential suitors. The Brazil international was handed a £350,000-a-week salary by the Glazers and still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract at the Premier League side.

Saudi Arabian sides were expected to step forward and table an offer for Casemiro previously, though the Middle Eastern outfits are yet to show an interest in signing the 31-year-old.

United have already managed to offload midfielder Donny van de Beek to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan as part of their mid-season clearout, and further exits are anticipated.
