Sean Dyche 'shocked' as he lifts lid on Everton squad reaction to points deduction

Sean Dyche admits he was “shocked” by the news that Everton had been deducted 10 points for breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules (PSR). The Toffees have fallen from 14th place to 19th in the Premier League table as a result of the deduction but Dyche insists his players are ready to fight for survival.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Everton’s upcoming clash against Manchester United on Sunday, he said: “I was shocked and seemingly, the wave of noise after that, most people around football were shocked.

“On the other hand, it doesn’t change the focus. The focus since I got here was turning things around on the pitch. We were obviously on the right lines for that and this has given us a push backwards. The job hasn’t changed for me.”
