Ryder Cup fans face extortionate beer, cocktail and food prices with bag also costing £650

A quarter of a million spectators are set to be at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club for the 2023 Ryder Cup and every one of them will have to take plenty of spending money if they want refreshments around the venue. The biennial golf event is one of the most sought-after tournaments in the sporting world.

It’s unique atmosphere compared to any other golf tournament makes it even more attractive to thousands of golf fans. The chance to attend a Ryder Cup regularly features on most avid golf fan’s bucket lists and tickets for the event sold out quickly once again this year.

But those lucky enough to get tickets to enter the grounds at Marco Simone will have to contend with paying a high price for food and beverages. With temperatures set to reach 29 degrees Celsius, spectators will need to stay hydrated throughout the weekend.

However, a simple bottle of water will set them back £3.47 (€4) and those hoping for a beer required to stump up £6.93 (€8). Even those are on the cheaper side of things compared to the cocktail list, featuring a gin and tonic, Negroni and an old fashioned.

All cocktails are priced at a staggering £15.60 (€18) with six different options to choose from. Food prices will also set spectators back a few pennies with all burgers costing a hefty £17.24 (€19.90).

Souvenirs from the event will similarly require deep pockets with a package of 12 Ryder cup golf balls costing £32 (€37). Hats will cost at least £33 while one of the priciest possible purchases is a deluxe Marco Simone tour golf bag priced at £646.50 (€747).

While general admission tickets are all sold out, some premium-priced tickets are still available for those hoping to make a late dash to Rome. Currently the cheapest option still available is the ‘Champions Pavilion’ ticket, which costs £428 (€495) per person.

The next cheapest jumps up to £774 (€895) per person in the ‘Captain’s Club’ while the next two premium experiences cost £856 (€990) and £1120 (€1295) respectively. The high prices haven’t seemingly put off punters from showing up in their thousands for the 44th Ryder Cup.

Team Europe are looking for revenge after being demolished on American soil in 2021 19-9. But Team USA haven’t won on the European continent since 1993 and Luke Donald’s side will be hoping to maintain that record.
