Rugby World Cup LIVE: England star warned over 'violent' claims as dig aimed at Sexton

England defensive coach Kevin Sinfield has warned Tom Curry about his discipline after the player was accused of a “violent” tackle in his side’s Rugby World Cup quarter-final.

Fiji believe the flanker was lucky to escape punishment for a no-arms tackle on Josua Tuisova on Sunday. He has since been publicly criticised by Tuisova’s club

“I think he understands, as a team, it is a big focus of ours, the discipline,” Sinfield said. “That isn’t just discipline in defence, that is discipline to the plan, discipline in how we play with the ball, in how we kick the ball. We need everyone to buy into that. Tom has.

“I think the position he plays in, the amount of collisions and contacts he’s involved in, means he is more likely to be pinged than anyone else.

“But clearly we need to be better there. We gave too many penalties away at the weekend, more than we’d like, and when somebody gives away two or three then it is important that as coaches we address it and speak to them.”
