Royal Family LIVE: Meghan and Harry mocked over new Netflix shows after latest US flop

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s two new TV shows are already attracting criticism from some quarters, despite not having been released yet.

It was reported this week that the Sussexes will be producing two new shows for Netflix, four years after they signed their deal with the platform, with one to be focused on cooking and lifestyle while the other will take viewers into the world of competitive polo.

Commentators Emma Webb and Amy Nickell-Turner spoke about the new projects on GB News, with Ms Webb claiming the couple are “bleeding from a stone”.

Meghan often used to post recipes and share her love of cooking on her now-defunct blog The Tig, and Harry has been playing polo ever since he was a working member of the Royal Family.

This comes as Australian commentator Daniela Elser pointed out in news.com.au that the Duke and Duchess are no longer attracting as much attention as they used to, as she wrote: “The Sussexes now exist on another strata altogether and are looking increasingly inconsequential.

“This week the political and business news site Axios reported the couple’s Archewell Foundation is part of ‘a bipartisan coalition with support from Hollywood power players’ that is working to prepare US voters for a possible deepfake onslaught as the campaign year goes into high gear.”

“If the Duke and Duchess’ participation in this campaign had happened back in their early US days, this Axios piece would have been spawned reporting across the internet and I’d bet good money that someone back in the UK would have been quick to dredge up some ‘royal source’ or ‘insider’ to offer some clipped, vaguely snippy critique.”
