Pro-Palestine protesters cut off Manhattan blocking bridges and tunnels chanting Free Gaza

Pro-Palestine protests have been occurring regularly in the city since Hamas launched a surprise terrorist attack on Israel on October 7.

The attack, which killed about 1,200 Israelis, triggered a war that has seen more than 22,000 Palestinians killed – according to health authorities in Gaza – and displaced about 2 million people in the Gaza Strip.

After the assassination of Saleh al-Arouri, the deputy leader of Hamas, in Lebanon on January 2, fears of a wider war in the region are growing.

On Monday, Hezbollah said one of its commanders was killed in an air strike in southern Lebanon. Israel did not directly claim responsibility but said that its fighter jet had carried out a “series of strikes” in the area.
