The Princess of Wales has sparked anger from some royal fans for wearing a sparkly new jacket to promote this year’s Christmas carol service.
Princess Kate is preparing to host her third annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey this evening, December 8. The festive event, which proved to be extremely popular in 2021 and 2022, is set to be another huge success.
Despite fans being excited to see the royal put on an amazing event, fans have taken to social media to express their anger that Princess Kate has chosen to wear a brand-new expensive jacket. The event will be an opportunity to thank all those who work to support babies and young children across the UK.
Just hours before the event is due to take place, a new video of the royal promoting the event has surfaced.
On fashion-focused Instagram account @royalfashionpolice, which dedicates itself to highlight the fashion of royals across the globe, fans have taken to a new picture of Kate to express their fury.
In the new promotion for the event, according to the account, Kate wore a new embellished long-sleeved jacket by Self-Portrait.
Fans appear angry that Kate has not chosen to rewear something from her wardrobe, with one fans questioning whether she realises “the impact when she buys something new”.
One user wrote: “It’s not just a random rich girl spending money. Her fashion choices literally mean billions for the UK economy…”
Another wrote: “New new new! I swear she has a similar jacket. Why buy another one?”
Although many impressed with the style choice, some claimed that the look was “not very festive”.
But defending her, one adoring fan said: “Absolutely gorgeous jacket. It’s very Chanel looking isn’t it. Though I know it’s not. Its similar to her Zara jacket she wore a couple of times this year.”
A second added: “Loving the makeup and hair with this look! So festive and lovely.” While a third chimed in: “Oh I’m a sparkle girl for sure so I love this.”
Another said: “Cute. But I think the colour doesn’t suit her”, with another suggesting that she should have opted to wear “red or a green or a burgundy”. But some pointed out that the Princess of Wales had opted for a more “traditional” winter look.
The event, although filmed on December 8, will air on ITV on Christmas Eve. Princess Kate will host the event alone, but will be supported by various other royals including the Prince of Wales.
