Princess Kate earns impressive nickname with sweet nod to Princess Diana

The Princess of Wales is beloved across the UK. Her personable approach leaves royal fans in raptures whenever she meets them during walkabouts with the rest of the Royal Family.

Now her charming and down-to-earth attitude to her legions of supporters has earned her an eye-catching comparison with the the People’s Princess, Princess Diana.

Her warm exterior has earned her a sweet nickname, linked to her husband’s late mother. It’s Princess Kate’s apparent joy and connection with her younger royal fans that has caught the attention of royal devotees. The 42-year-old is often spotted stopping and chatting with little children at royal events up and down the country.

This wonderful connection with British kids the “length and breadth” of the UK has seen some call her the Children’s Princess.

Responding to a clip of Kate posted to mark her Five Questions survey, supporters were quick to suggest the new title for her. One wrote: “Children’s Princess! Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge and our future Queen!”

Another echoed the sentiment, using the same nickname: “Duchess Catherine truly is a Children’s Princess. Well done everyone who’s involved in this great project!!” A third replied: “Beautiful princess Kate, excellent job, wonderful Duchess and Children’s Princess.”

Princess Diana was known as the People’s Princess posthumously, after the then-Prime Minister Tony Blair spoke to the nation following her fatal car crash in 1997.

Speaking in his Sedgefield constituency, he said: “With just a look or a gesture that spoke so much more than words, she would reveal to all of us the depth of her compassion and her humanity”.

The “compassion and humanity” shown by Diana is certainly exhibited by Kate, who radiates positivity whenever she talks to adoring royal fans, especially youngsters. Perhaps Kate’s natural ability to connect to kids is best exemplified by her friendship with nine-year-old Tony Hudgell.

The double amputee has been pictured speaking at length with Kate, gleaming as the pair chatted away. Tony is the youngest ever recipient of New Year’s Honour for his work preventing child abuse.

Kate posed for a photo with Tony and his family during a visit to Evelina London Children’s Hospital and when the future Queen hugged his mum she became emotional. Mrs Hudgell said of the meeting: “I’m just emotional and overwhelmed, she just makes such an impact and she’s just so kind and has such a big heart.”
