Princess Kate and Prince William's nanny must follow six strict rules with the royal kids

Using the word ‘kids’

Esteemed historian and writer Louise Heren told the Mirror that the young royals must not be referred to by the colloquial term “kids”.

The academic, who has written books on the history of childcare in the UK told the publication that Ms Borrallo can only call them “children” or their names. The writer added that the rule constitutes “a mark of respect for the children as individuals”.

Screen time

Unsurprisingly, the royal trio are not allowed to spend hours on end watching the TV or scrolling on devices. It is understood that Kate is particularly interested in ensuring her children aren’t couch potatoes.

According to royal expert Kate Nicholl, the future Queen “won’t allow Prince George, Princess Charlotte or Prince Louis their own devices” while they’re still youngsters.

She told OK! magazine: “The emphasis during this time will be on arts and crafts, painting, and doing things that aren’t screen-orientated. Kate is usually very strict on screen time and keeps it to a minimum.”

Bedtime

The royal children don’t get to stay up late according to ‘Nanny in a Book’ author Ms Heren. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have a strict bedtime of 7pm.

Royal know-it-all Duncan Larcombe made reference to the children’s bedtime in December 2021 when the Prince and Princess of Wales appeared at a special Christmas Carol service at Westminster Abbey, noting how their children weren’t with them.

The only recent exception that royal fans noticed was when the three kids were allowed to stay up late for King Charles’ Coronation concert.

Daily play time

According Ms Heren, the children must be let out to play outside every single day. She said: “There will be lots and lots of outdoor play. That’s the one thing you could say Norland [the agency that Ms Borrallo is from] are old-fashioned about. Loads of fresh air. Lots of bike rides, playing with their dogs, [and] potentially some gardening. Norland are very into teaching children through play.”

Strict ‘punishment’ rules

Graduates of Norland are warned that anyone found hitting children will be struck off – as it is an “unacceptable means of punishment”.

A source told the Sun: “Maria is firm but she never acts unilaterally with the children on discipline. Kate and William, along with Maria, are strict with the children but have this magic ability to appear not to be.”

No shouting

Ms Borrallo does not shout at the children either. Despite little spats being commonplace, as they are in every household with children, raising voices is not permitted. According to the Sun, William and Kate do not shout at eachother, nor do the children shout between them, nor Ms Borrallo at them.
