Princess Kate and Prince William's favourite meal is delicious and super easy to make

Princess Kate and Prince William are very busy, what with countless royal engagements and three young children to look after.

However, the pair do manage to relax on occasion, and like to do this with their takeaway of choice.

In 2017, Kate and William appeared on BBC Radio 1 and among other things were asked about their favourite comfort food order.

When asked if they were “allowed to order in a takeaway”, the pair chuckled and Kate answered “absolutely”. William jokingly added that it was “very important”.

Kate divulged that the pair love a good curry takeaway, although her husband said it was a “real conundrum between pizza, curry or Chinese”.

Even though the pair love a curry, only one of the royal duo apparently likes the heat, with the Prince revealing he is “not so good with the spicy food”.

The pair didn’t divulge their favourite takeaway spot but they likely enjoy a tasty chicken tikka masala.

Kate and William fans can dine like royalty with BBC Good Food’s chicken tikka masala. The four-step recipe is super easy and a crowd-pleaser too.

BBC Good Food said: “This takeaway favourite is freezer-friendly and quick to reheat, giving you the chance to get ahead and save money.”

Method

1. Heat up the vegetable oil and butter in a large, lidded casserole on the hob. Add in the onions and a pinch of salt. Cook for 15-20 mins until the onions are soft and golden.

2. Add the tikka masala paste and peppers, then cook for five minutes more. This will cook out the rawness of the spices.

3. Pop the chicken breasts in and stir well to coat them in the tikka masala paste. Cook for another two minutes, then tip in the chopped tomatoes, tomato purée and 200ml water. Cover with a lid and gently simmer for 15 minutes until the chicken is cooked through. Ensure you are stirring occasionally.

4. Take off the lid and stir in the mango chutney, double cream and natural yoghurt, before gently warming through. Season to taste, then divide into what you want to eat now and what you want to freeze. This recipe is a great one for batch cooking as it will keep in an airtight container for up to three months in the freezer. For the portion you are serving up now, scatter with coriander leaves and serve with basmati rice and naan bread. A minted cucumber salad also goes down a treat with chicken tikka masala, as do popular sides vegetable samosas and onion bhajis.
