Princess Charlene and Prince Albert dispel marriage rumours as they ramp up joint visits

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco made yet another joint appearance — their sixth in eight days — at the Rugby World Cup in Marseille at the weekend.

The former Olympic swimmer, 45, cheered on her native South Africa, who went on to win against Scotland.

The appearances follow rumours that the couple, who have been married since 2011, were living apart and only see one another by appointment or for ceremonial reasons.

Albert, the reigning Prince of Monaco, and Princess Charlene were seen putting on a loving display at the rugby match, with Albert wrapping his arms around Charlene while they chatted to fellow sports fans.

The appearances, which showed the pair putting on a united front, included a visit to Princess Antoinette Park in Monaco, a 100th-anniversary celebration of Prince Rainier III’s birth and the Princess of Monaco Cup ’19th hole’ event.

The flurry of appearances is out of character for Charlene, who previously had not been spotted in Monaco for months.

She spent 10 months in South Africa in 2021 for a supposed ear condition. When she returned, Albert said it was clear she was “unwell and overwhelmed” and was unable to “face official duties, life in general or even family life”.

The couple recently holidayed together with their two children but Princess Charlene reportedly did not return with her family and now lives in Switzerland.

An insider told French paper Voici that they are now a “ceremonial couple”, also telling German publication Bild: “Albert and Charlene are now good partners, taking turns taking care of the children.”

But rumours have swirled of the couple’s happiness since the wedding day, where Charlene allegedly wept through the ceremony and Albert could be heard asking her to stop crying.
