Prince William's unforgettable karaoke with Taylor Swift goes viral and sparks fan frenzy

Prince William and Taylor Swift sharing a microphone was a highlight of 2013 – and thanks to social media, fans are reliving the special moment again.

The world famous and unlikely musical duo were also joined by Jon Bon Jovi at a fundraiser for Centrepoint, an organization that helps homeless people in the UK, for which William has been a patron since 2005.

The moment has made its way over to TikTok, with a new post racking up 50,000 views and over 13,000 likes.

In the clip, Bon Jovi takes the lead for Livin’ on a Prayer with Swift and the Prince joining in.

According to William, he didn’t realize Swift or Bon Jovi were going to be in attendance until seeing them at the event.

He was hugely surprised, and at the same time, thought he was “off-duty.”

He planned to enjoy the dinner and chat with people, but that all changed when Swift said to him, “Come on William, let’s go and sing.”

The TikTok video was posted by stephanieecaleffo, based in São Paulo, Brazil, with her followers writing comments in Spanish, notes like “não sabia q precisava ver isso até ver isso” and “esse é o meu vídeo favorito da história.”

The notes, translated into Engish, read “I didn’t know I needed to see this” and “This is my favorite video in history.”

In 2021, William appeared on the Time to Walk podcast, and he talked about the Karaoke moment and the long-lasting impact it had on him, saying: “I think we’ve got to the stage in this life where we do micromanage ourselves.

“We do worry about: how do we look on social media? Who said what about me? What am I wearing? There’s so many pressures, but I think that making a fool of yourself is OK.

“It’s OK to not take yourself too seriously and have those moments where you let go and you just go: Do you know what? I’m OK with this.”

This past Sunday, Swift was at the Grammys and wore a long white gown and long black opera gloves. Viewers and fans took this as paying homage to Princess Kate, who wore a very similar outfit to the BAFTAs in 2023.
