Prince William and Princess Kate make subtle social media change to mark sombre occasion

The Prince and Princess of Wales have paid their respects ahead of Remembrance weekend with a subtle change to their social media accounts.

The royal couple have switched out their profile displays picture to mark the sombre occasion of Remembrance Day, which takes place on November 11.

While previously displaying a picture of the couple smiling on a royal tour in 2020, the new picuture shows them applauding at the Festival of Remembrance in 2019.

In the picture, Kate can be seen wearing a black dress, sparkly Zara headband and a pin with three poppies.

Standing alongside his wife, Prince William looked smart in a dark suit and a red and black patterned tie.

The couple also changed their cover picture on X, which was formerly known as Twitter.

The chosen picture, which was formerly of the Earthshot Prize, now displays poppies in an act of respect.

Fans have recently noticed the change in how the couple’s social media platforms have been run.

They have praised the social media team behind Kate and William’s platforms, noting the modern change.

Earlier this year, the couple have promoted a new “slick” social media strategy, one that was put in place to win over younger generations.

Following in the couple’s lead, King Charles and Queen Camilla have also changed their profile display picture on X – as well as the cover picture.

Their picture shows Charles and Camilla during a Remembrance event in Canada from 2009.

The chosen cover picture is, like William and Kate’s, of poppies – along with the words ‘Lest we forget’.

On Saturday evening, the King and Queen are set to attend the Festival of Remembrance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

The pair are expected to be joined by some of their fellow senior royals.

They will also be at the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph this weekend.
