Prince Harry's US visa row explained as Duke prepares for court showdown on Friday

Prince Harry finds himself in the middle of a legal showdown over his US visa application, a development that comes just days after he disclosed he was considering American citizenship.

A demand from a United States think-tank, the Heritage Foundation, has asked to obtain Harry’s immigration records from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The request aims to determine if Harry disclosed any history of drug use during his visa application process.

When individuals apply to reside in the United States, they are required to respond to a crucial question regarding drug abuse or addiction. Heritage Foundation said it was important to ascertain whether he disclosed this, after openly discussing his past experiences with drugs in his memoir, “Spare”.

The Heritage Foundation contends that Prince Harry may have been eligible for a waiver if he had acknowledged drug use on his visa application.

However, the group’s pursuit extends to scrutinizing the process behind any such waiver, should it have been granted.

Legal experts anticipate a forthcoming ruling from Judge Carl J. Nichols, who presides over the case.

His decision will shed light on the extent to which the DHS must disclose Prince Harry’s immigration records, navigating the complex terrain of privacy laws and public interest.
