Prince Harry’s Spare sales records smashed by Britney Spears’ memoir, claims singer

Pop star Britney Spears has claimed her autobiography The Woman In Me has become the biggest-selling celebrity memoir of all time after its debut on October 24.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the 42-year-old singer informed her 55million followers on the platform of the book’s success.

She posted a short video and image of The Woman In Me’s front cover and wrote: “It’s happening !!!

“My book is the highest selling celebrity memoir in history and it’s only day 1 !!!

“Thank you to the fans who have been so supportive !!! Love you all !!! #TheWomaninMe @gallerybooks @simonandschuster [sic].”

Her post suggested The Woman In Me has now trumped Prince Harry’s explosive memoir Spare, which was published on January 10, 2023.

Spare instantly became a New York Times bestseller following its release with Prince Harry previously releasing excerpts ahead of its debut.

The book sold more than 1.4million copies on the first day and broke previous records in doing so.

This means, Spears’ The Woman In Me would have sold more than this figure to trump Prince Harry.

The Woman In Me’s publishers Simon & Schuster have yet to release the first-day sales figures for the book.

Daily Express has approached the publisher for comment on the figure.

According to publishers Penguin Random House, Spare sold 3.2million copies worldwide in its first week across all formats including print, digital and audio.

Spare reached number one in many countries including the UK, America, Australia, France, Germany, Brazil, and Denmark, among others.

Moreover, Spare saw the biggest-ever first-day sales for a non-fiction book published by Penguin Random House, which is the world’s largest trade publisher.

Prince Harry’s revelatory memoir Spare was released earlier this year and was expected to be the biggest autobiography of 2023 until Spears announced plans for her own memoir.

Spears’ explosive memoir details her rise to fame with previously unknown details including her secret abortion after she fell pregnant at 19 with then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake’s baby with the NSYNC singer saying they weren’t ready to be parents.

The Woman In Me also documented Spears’ controversial conservatorship, which saw her father Jamie Spears controlling everything from her finances and performances to who would be her prospective boyfriends.

She was under the conservatorship between 2008 and 2021 when it was finally brought to an end following a high-profile campaign.

Britney Spears’s memoir, The Woman in Me, published by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, is available Oct. 24 wherever books are sold.
