Prince Harry is to be inducted into the “Living Legends of Aviation” for his work as a British Army veteran and pilot.
He will receive the honour at a glitzy awards ceremony hosted by actor and aviation ambassador John Travolta in Beverly Hills, California, next Friday. The event was set up to honour those who make significant contributions to aviation and aerospace.
But royal expert Angela Levin is unsure whether the Duke of Sussex is worthy of such an award and points out just how few hours Harry has under his belt.
She wrote on X: “Harry flew for 20 weeks in Afghanistan. Surely not enough to have a Living Legends of Aviation award.”
Many others have questioned Harry’s credentials, with an RAF source telling Express.co.uk: “It’s a little bit odd.”
Others took to social media to discuss the news, with one person writing on X: “Is this a joke? What is the legendary stuff that he has done? I am asking seriously! What the heck has he done?”
Harry has ten years of military experience, completing two tours of Afghanistan where he flew in several combat missions, as well as flying in training missions in the UK, US and Australia.
He is also the founder of the Invictus Games, a competitive sports tournament for wounded and sick ex-military personnel, many of whom suffered horrific injuries while serving for their country.
