F1 LIVE: Toto Wolff speaks out on Lewis Hamilton behaviour as team face being sued

Mercedes chief Toto Wolff has jumped to the defence of Lewis Hamilton and insisted that the Brit has remained professional throughout his team’s rocky start to the season.

Hamilton is set to leave Mercedes at the end of the season for Ferrari, but his chances of bowing out with at least a race win now appear unrealistic.

But Wolff believes that the seven-time world champion has not allowed the performances to break his stride, saying: “I think Lewis is a professional and has behaved in that way until now.

“He is trying to keep his morale high. And the morale of the team too, even if the results don’t come. So I think I have no doubt that this is going to last. He’s also been supportive when George [Russell] was going better or well.”
