Prince Harry's legend win proves 'smoke gets blown up a lot of backsides' in Hollywood

Jane Moore suggested that “money and and influence reign supreme” in Hollywood in her latest column.

On Friday (19 January), John Travolta hosted the Living Legends of Aviation ceremony in Los Angeles, where Prince Harry was recognised for his time in the British Army.

The Loose Women presenter, 61, reacted to a photo of the Pulp Fiction actor shared on Instagram with Meghan Markle’s husband, alongside Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sánchez.

She wrote in The Sun: “[Lauren] runs a company that offers aerial filming and can fly a helicopter herself. But Amelia Earhart she ain’t.

“But hey, this is Hollywood, where money and influence reign supreme and, consequently, smoke gets blown up a lot of backsides.

“Another being the sphincter of ‘Prince’ Harry (yep, he’s still hanging on to that title) who was also being celebrated by the assembled sycophants paying £1,100 each to be in the presence of such, er, greatness.”

Jane went on to state that although Harry served in the military for ten years, and did two tours in Afghanistan, he worked as a gunner and co-pilot.

She added: “Courageous? Yes. Aviation legend? No.

“And he knows it too, which makes his acceptance of the award even more embarrassing.”

Following the ceremony, John captioned the picture: “I was so proud to host Prince Harry, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez at Living Legends of Aviation awards event Friday night.

“Congrats to both Prince Harry and Lauren on their awards!!”

Media personality and helicopter pilot Lauren was also honoured at the ceremony, receiving the Elling Halvorson Vertical Flight Hall of Fame Award.

During his speech at the ceremony, Harry described flying as “a transcendent experience, a close encounter with magic, an invitation to both protect freedom… and to feel free – and, funnily enough, an opportunity to ground oneself, without actually being grounded.”

He added that flight training was “one of life’s greatest lessons”.
