Prince Harry's heartbreaking remarks about being forced to 'hang up' his military uniform

Prince Harry has made a heartbreaking remark about being forced to “hang up” his military uniform during a video call on his new Netflix series, Heart of Invictus.

In the third episode, Harry appeared to make reference to his own 10-year long military career during a chat with some of the Invictus Games competitors.

During the video call, Harry spoke about having to “hang up” their uniforms following their own military service – highlighting that the service will always run in “our blood”.

Harry said: “But, thank you for putting so much into this, right? You did it every day, wearing [a] uniform and for some reason or another, that uniform had to be hung up.

“That service that runs in your blood, in our blood, that never leaves the body. It’s there.”

Just one month later, in May 2006, Harry joined his regiment and the Troop Leaders’ Course for his special-to-arm training to become an armoured reconnaissance troop leader.

His decision to leave the Army was confirmed in March 2015, and Harry ended his military career at the rank of captain in June 2015.

Thanks to his dedicated service in the Army, Harry holds more medals for his service than Prince William.

To date, he has been awarded an Afghanistan Service Medal, as well as a Golden, Diamond and Platinum Jubilee medal.

Also being recognised for his service to the late Queen, Harry also wears the KCVO Star, which represents the Royal Victorian Order.

Harry has previously described his years in the military as “the happiest time of my life”.

His miliatry service ended just one year before he met Meghan Markle.

The next Invictus Games is set to take place next month, with the start confirmed as September 9.
